Bharat qualified from the Liverpool School of Pharmacy in 1979. He and his wife, Urvashi, also a pharmacist, operate a healthcare business comprising two pharmacies, which were acquired in 1982 and 1997, and a purpose built nursing home. In addition, Bharat works as a Supplementary Prescriber with the local doctors once a week. Today he is still as passionately committed to the development of community pharmacy as he was 25 years ago.
He has been a member of the Essex LPC since 1982, having chaired the LPC for a number of years. He is also now the Co-Vice Chairman. Bharat is a member of the PSNC and was a PEC pharmacist at Castle Point & Rochford PCT for a number of years. In the past Bharat has been employed by South Essex Health Authority as a pharmacy facilitator. Bharat was elected to the NPA board in 2007, was appointed Vice Chairman in April 2010 and Chairman in April 2011.
