Raj studied at the Welsh School of Pharmacy, qualifying in 1973. He was in senior management with Boots until 1983, managing various stores throughout the country. He is a Board member of Community Pharmacy Wales and Chairman of South East region. He is currently Chairman of the Kidney Wales Foundation. He is a Welsh Assembly Government appointed advisor on various Health and Pharmaceutical Committees, a member of the Ministerial Pharmacy Strategic Delivery Group and Health Wales columnist for the Western Mail. Raj is also a Director and Board member of the Cardiff Business Club. He is a past Chairman of the Asian Society of Wales and President of the Overseas Students Association, and has been a winner of Health and Beauty Retailer 2003 Award and winner of the prestigious UK Clarins Gold Salon Award 2008.
Raj was awarded and OBE in 2007 for services to pharmacy, the Asian community and charitable services.
