Pharmacy Technician

Qualified pharmacy staff that have completed training that allows them to apply for registration on the GPhC Statutory Register for Pharmacy Technicans.

Pharmacy Technicians must successfully complete a NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent*) and then apply for registration with the GPhC.  Pharmacy Technicians work in the dispensary supporting the pharmacist in the dispensing process. 

From July 2011, all pharmacy staff working as pharmacy technicians must be registered with the GPhC.

Pharmacy technicians are required to carry out Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to keep their knowledge up to date.  Refer to www.uptodate.org.uk to record your CPD.

The NPA provides the following pharmacy training courses for pharmacy technicians:

*Dispensing staff are able to register with the GPhC as Pharmacy Technicians with equivalent qualifications and relevant work experience up until July 2011.
