Pharmacy Undergraduate Training Programme

This training programme provides the ideal platform for students to move on to the NPA Preregistration Trainee Pharmacist programme.

Who is this training course suitable for?

This training new course has been developed to provide pharmacy employers with a structured training programme for pharmacy undergraduate students working in their pharmacies, whether this is during summer holidays or as a part time/weekend employee.

What does the training course contain?


The programme is divided into two parts and contains numerous inter-text activities, as well as MCQs and case studies to demonstrate the student’s understanding.

The programme comprises:

 Part 1

Aimed at 1st and 2nd year MPharm students, Part 1 introduces students to minor ailments and OTC medicines.

  • 10 Modules covering:

o    Pain

o    Coughs, colds

o    Hay fever

o    Indigestion, heartburn & constipation

o    Family health

o    Holiday healthcare & first aid

o    Skin & feet

o    Mouth, eyes & ears

o    Healthy living

o    Pet medicines

  • Part 1 MCQ assessment paper

Part 2

Tailored for more experienced 2nd and 3rd year MPharm students, focuses more on working in the dispensary.

  • 3 Modules covering:

o    Introduction to the dispensary

o    Law & ethics

o    Drug tariff

  • Part 2 MCQ assessment paper & case studies

Duration

The programme includes a suggested time table to follow.  This can be tailored according to the length of time the student will be working with you.  The student can study at their own pace and over a period of time that suits them and their employer.
