Community pharmacy continues to be recognised as a primary healthcare provider; however, it is important that community pharmacy business remains profitable.
The NPA has developed two types of resource predominantly providing support for your NHS business:
Business Briefs: Pharmacy Business Briefs provide a concise guide to various topics. These topics have, in general, been dictated by the queries that the NPA has received from members.
Pharmacy Business Resource packs provide a more in-depth guide to topics. They include an overview of the relevant market and offer guidance to members considering entering into a new market or growing existing market share. Chapters include merchandising and display guides, local marketing advice, legal considerations, essential knowledge product listings and a valuable Who's Who section.

Photography resource pack
The NPA is pleased to have worked with the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) in the production of this Pharmacy Business Resource Pack. Over the last few years the question of whether pharmacy should offer, or continue to offer, a photographic service to its customers has become an important consideration for our members.

Animal medicines resource pack
The animal medicines market continues to grow from strength to strength. This market can be segmented according to the species of animal the medicine acts upon:
1. Companion animals (52%) for example cats and dogs
2. Food producing animals (44%) for example cattle and poultry
3. Multi (4%) some medicines can be used for both food producing animals and companion animals.
The majority of community pharmacies are ideally placed to develop and grow the companion animal market.

Complementary medicines resource pack
This pharmacy business resource pack has been designed to support NPA members in developing and growing their Complementary Medicines business. It has been written to provide specific support to pharmacists wanting to learn more about the opportunities offered by the growing Complementary Medicines market and how to make the most of it.
