Professional Indemnity Insurance for pharmacists

With over 100 years experience in professional indemnity insurance within pharmacy, we have a range of bespoke policies for pharmacists which has been tailored to meet your needs.

  • Primary Care Pharmacist This pharmacist professional indemnity insurance cover is for primary care pharmacists when employed by a primary care organisation (e.g. PCT in England or GP practice) either full or part-time, employed or self-employed and as a self-employed Locum pharmacist engaged in community pharmacy and/or hospital pharmacy dispensing work only.  This includes work in a GP practice, interface working with secondary care and in the primary care organisation itself. Supplementary Prescribers are also covered under this policy and the policy can also be extended to cover Independent Prescribers on payment of an additional premium.
  • Hospital Pharmacist (Locum extension cover available) Suitable for pharmacists (full and part time) working within a hospital. The pharmacist professional indemnity insurance cover is provided for any activity including sign off of patient group directives, as long as the activity is being undertaken with the full knowledge of the hospital board, and is accepted as a satisfactory activity by the professional regulator.  
  • Locum Pharmacist  Locum professional indemnity insurance cover is available to full or part time, employed or self-employed Locum pharmacists engaged in community pharmacy and/or work as a Hospital pharmacist. 
  • Pharmacy Technicians Pharmacy Technician professional indemnity insurance cover is suitable for full or part time employed pharmacy technicians working in either community, hospital and/or prison who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent.  The policy is suitable for those technicians who have been trained and undertake a final checking role in any environment. 
  • Primary Care Specialists (GP surgery & PCT) Primary Care Specialist professional indemnity insurance cover is suitable for employed or self employed, in full or part time employment this cover is suitable for pharmacy technicians including locums, working within primary care pharmacy services who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. 
  • Locum Technicians Locum Technician professional indemnity insurance cover is suitable if you are a locum pharmacy technician working full or part time, employed or self employed in either community pharmacy, hospital and/or prison that hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent.  Also suitable for locum technicians who have been trained and undertake final checking role in any environment.  
  • Hospital/Prison Technicians Our Hospital/Prison Technician professional indemnity insurance cover is in addition to that provided under pharmacy technician cover and is suitable for technicians (full or part-time, employed or self-employed) including locums who are involved in hospital or prison technician activities who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent.  
  • Dispensary Assistant Our Dispensary Assistant professional indemnity insurance cover is suitable for full/part time employed or self employed dispensary technicians working in either community pharmacy, hospital and/or prison. Minimum training requirement is S/NVQ level 2 or equivalent or who have been declared competent under the grandparent clause and have completed a suitable checking course. 
  • Preregistration Trainee Pharmacist and Pharmacy Undergraduates NPAI provides Preregistration Trainee Pharmacist and Pharmacy Undergraduate professional indemnity insurance cover FREE of charge for qualifying trainee students.
  •  MOD Pharmacy Technician  This professional indemnity insurance is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians working for the MOD at UK locations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. Cover is provided for dispensing related activities, which are accepted as satisfactory activities by the regulator.
  • Management Pharmacy Technician  Professional indemnity insurance suitable for a pharmacy technician working in a management position e.g. hospital pharmacy and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Industry Pharmacy Technician  Professional indemnity insurance suitable for a pharmacy technician working in manufacturing or research and development and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Regulatory Pharmacy Technician  Professional Indemnity Insurance suitable for a pharmacy technician working for the GPhC or in other pharmacy regulatory functions and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Education & Training Pharmacy Technician  Professional Indemnity Insurance suitable for a pharmacy technician who are working as Assessors, Internal and/or External Assurers, Lecturers, Trainers or Mentors and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
