Pharmacy Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians (full or part-time, employed), working in either the community, hospital, and/or prison who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. This policy is also suitable for those technicians who have been trained and who undertake a final checking role in any environment. Cover is provided for dispensing related activities which are accepted as satisfactory activities by the professional regulator.
Primary Care Specialist (GP Surgery & PCT)
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians (full or part-time, employed or self-employed), including locums, working within primary care pharmacy services who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. Cover is extended to any work activity provided the activity follows an appropriate written SOP and is accepted as a satisfactory activity by the professional regulator.
Hospital/Prison Technicians
This level of cover is in addition to that provided under Pharmacy Technician cover and is suitable for Technicians (full or part-time, employed or self-employed) including locums who are involved in Hospital or Prison Technician activities who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. Cover is not restricted to dispensing related activities and is provided for Technicians assisting with the administration of drug rounds on hospital wards and/or involvement with clinical checks and/or the provision of medicines information. All activities should be accepted as satisfactory activities by the professional regulator.
Locum Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Locum Pharmacy Technicians (full or part-time, self-employed) working in either the community, hospital and/or prison who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. This policy is also suitable for Checking Technicians who have been trained and who undertake a final checking role in any environment. Cover is provided for dispensing related activities provided the activity has been accepted as a satisfactory activity by the professional regulator.
Dispensary Assistant
This level of cover is suitable for Dispensary Assistants (full or part-time, employed) working in either the community, hospital and/or prison who have attained the minimum training requirement (SNVQ level 2 or equivalent) or who have been declared competent under the grandparent clause and who have completed a suitable checking course.
MOD Pharmacy Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians working for the MOD at UK locations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) who hold S/NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent. Cover is provided for dispensing related activities, which are accepted as satisfactory activities by the regulator.
Management Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians working in a management position e.g. Hospital pharmacy management and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
Industry Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians working in Manufacturing and Research and Development and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
Regulatory Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians working for the GPhC or in other pharmacy regulatory functions and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
Education & Training Technician
This level of cover is suitable for Pharmacy Technicians who are working as Assessors, Internal and/or External Assurers, Lecturers, Trainers, Mentors and who hold an S/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
