In the meantime, the updated NPA Pharmacy Services leaflets “Malaria prophylaxis” and “Vaccine requirements for travellers abroad” can be accessed at the right of this page.
The updated malaria prophylaxis leaflet (expiry December 2013) contains a number of changes to the prophylaxis requirements of certain countries, some of which may not be evident on government travel websites. NPA Pharmacy Services has been advised by the Malaria Reference Laboratory, part of Public Health England (PHE), that the Advisory Committee on Malaria Prevention Guidelines are in press. However, these are not expected to appear on the relevant PHE websites until the middle of June.
Discrepancies between the advice offered by PHE and the NPA may therefore be apparent, however, the NPA would like to reassure members that the updated NPA malaria prophylaxis leaflet (expiry December 2013) is correct and has been produced following liaison with the Malaria Reference Laboratory.
