Law and Ethics course

This self study course provides an overview of the legislation and ethics affecting pharmacy practice.

Who is this course suitable for?

For  pre-registration trainee pharmacistspharmacists returning to practice, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians changing from hospital to community sectors, refresher for experienced pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, primary care staff and dispensary staff.

What does this course contain?

This training covers a number of topics relating to law and ethics, including:

  • Background to clinical governance
  • Medicines Act
  • Controlled Drugs
  • Spirits
  • Veterinary Medicines
  • Other acts

The course also contains useful NPA information leaflets to dowload for future reference.  The most up to date versions can always be downloaded in resources1.

How will I be assessed?

There is no formal assessment, however the course does include a number of inter-text activities.

How long will it take to complete the course?

Suggested study time is  3 - 4 hours.

The time taken to complete the course may vary from one individual to another and will depend on whether all the activities are completed.   The course can be studied in small sections to break up the study time.

Do I get a certificate of completion?

No.  However, completion of the course can provide a number of CPD opportunities depending on your individual learning objectives.
