NPA members invited to workshop on patient confidentiality and the rights and responsibility of pharmacists and patients in a consultation area.

National Pharmacy Association (NPA) members are invited to attend a workshop exploring patient confidentiality and the rights and responsibility of pharmacists and patients in a consultation area.

The workshop, sponsored by the Health Education Foundation, will be led by Glyn Walduck, Head of Claims at NPA Insurance and Leyla Hannbeck, Head of Pharmacy at the NPA.

Leyla Hannbeck, Head of Pharmacy at the NPA said:

“We receive a number of enquiries from our members about patient confidentiality issues, such as what to do if a person asks what their relative’s medication is for or what to do if a police officer wants a drug identifying of a person they have just arrested. Both of these scenarios are complex and could potentially result in a breach of patient confidentiality. Our workshop will equip NPA members with practical advice and guidance on how to handle these real life issues.”

The events will take place on Tuesday 9th October at the Trident & Dakota Rooms, Hilton Edinburgh Hotel, 100 Eastfield Rd, Edinburgh, EH28 8LL between 6.30pm and 9.00pm.

The session is free for NPA members and members of the pharmacy team. To register to attend, NPA members can download a form here.
