The National Pharmacy Association has responded to the Welsh Government’s consultation ‘The People’s NHS.’
Steve Simmonds, the National Pharmacy Association’s Representational Manager in Wales said:
“The Welsh Government, NHS and the public all stand to gain from understanding and taking advantage of the capabilities of community pharmacy. For this to happen there needs to be widespread understanding of the roles and capabilities of community pharmacy and a stable financial environment to enable community pharmacy owners to develop their premises and services. In addition there needs to be a reduction in the administrative and regulatory burden that is detracting from direct patient care. To invest in services without an accompanying investment in awareness raising serves to reduce the return from that investment.”
