Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Controlled Drugs - Carrying out stock checks of Controlled Drugs.
In its response to the Fourth Report of the Shipman Inquiry “Safer Management of Controlled Drugs”, the Government agreed with the recommendation that a
running balance of Controlled Drugs (CD) stock be kept in the CD register. It was also recommended that periodic stock checks be carried out.
