Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Counter sales of products containing pseudoephedrine and ephedrine.
These guidance notes are intended to help pharmacists in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland prepare a written standard operating procedure (SOP) for the sale of products containing pseudoephedrine or ephedrine in the pharmacy. Although it is not a legal requirement to have a SOP in place specifically for these products, it is good practice to do so. In Northern Ireland, it is a professional requirement of PSNI for all pharmacies to have a written SOP in place for these products.
