Board of Management

The NPA is a democratic organisation - and at the forefront of its structure is an elected Board of Management. The Board meets ten times a year to direct the overall policy and operation of the Association.

There are 23 Board Members, 21 of whom represent a region of the UK and 2 co-opted members representing the Lloyds and Alliance pharmacy groups. Only full members of the NPA can become Board Members and they are elected by the membership for a three year term of office. Members of the NPA Board, coming as they do from all parts of the UK, are truly representative of the nation's community pharmacy profession.

The Board elects a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer annually. Each Board Member sits on one of three standing sub-committees - Finance, Business and Practice. Every three years the Board selects five of its members to act as representatives on the PSNC and one member to act as European representative on the PGEU and Europharm Forum organisations.

Chairman for 2007-8 is Dilip Joshi, who represents Area 7, Surrey and West Sussex. Sean Woodward is the new Vice Chairman (Area 12, Staffordshire and the Marches) and Wally Dove is re-elected as Treasurer (Area 10, the South of England).

On becoming NPA Chairman, Dilip Joshi commented:

"The NPA has made enormous strides in recent years in helping its members get to grips with the new contract and we will continue to provide support for both the professional and commercial aspects of their businesses. We have in place a fully integrated programme that has been developed through listening to what our members tell us they need and want. The pace of change is relentless and, as ever, the NPA looks to stay ahead of it so that members will be well placed to face whatever lies ahead."
