Accredited Dispensary Assistants Course (ADAC)

This course is accredited by the GPhC as meeting the minimum training requirements for anyone involved with the dispensing process.

Who is this course suitable for?

New dispensing staff, part time dispensing staff, relief dispensers including medicines counter assistants, people who want to try the course before committing to the full NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, those wishing to complete the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.

On satisfactory completion of this NPA course you have the unique opportunity to transfer on to the NPA NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services at a reduced price.

What does this course contain?

The course is divided into 4 Modules, covering:

  • Introduction to Dispensing and Stock Control
  • Pharmacy practice and procedures
  • Law and Ethics
  • The Drug Tariff

The four Modules are sent together.  This course forms the underpinning knowledge for the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.

How will I be assessed?

The assessments include:

  • Introductory workbook
  • Module 1 workbook
  • Case studies and multiple choice questions for module 2 and 3
  • Inter-text exercise and questions throughout
  • Evidence gathering activities

Each Module must be completed and the work sent to your allocated external NPA tutor who will give you a grade and provide feedback on the quality of your work.

How long will it take to complete the course?

The estimated study time to complete each Module is 20 hours.  This can be divided to suit you and your supervising pharmacist in your individual working environment.

The course must be completed within 6 months of enrolment.1
