Actavis worldwide
Alpharma is now part of Actavis, making it one of the five largest generics companies worldwide with over 10,000 employees in over 30 countries. With over 350 medicines available and approximately 300 in development, Actavis has one of the broadest product portfolios and pipelines in the industry.

Actavis in the UK
Actavis UK is committed to continuing to provide first class generics on day one of patent expiry, as well as supporting pharmacists through a series of training and education initiatives.  We will continue to offer customers consistently high levels of service via a sales team who are experts in reimbursement and the implications of the pharmacy contract.

Actavis is also committed to driving through a groundbreaking programme of POM to P switches, offering greater choice for patients and placing pharmacists at the heart of healthcare provision.

Membership of the NPA Matrix
Sara Vincent, UK Country Manager for Actavis, says: “We are absolutely committed to community pharmacy and value our membership of the NPA very highly. We see it very much as a two way partnership – through talking to pharmacists we gain a valuable insight into what pharmacists need and are also able to share our industry knowledge with members.”

Actavis – leading the way in pharmacy training and development
Actavis is supporting a series of initiatives in association with the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) specifically aimed at pharmacy technicians.  We are proud sponsors of the NPA’s Accuracy in Dispensing course and a whole host of awards in recognition of their pivotal role in today’s pharmacy.

Sara Vincent, UK Country Manager of Actavis, says: “As a company we are committed to the personal training and development of pharmacy dispensing staff to give them a greater level of skill and confidence in dispensing medicines.  This helps to free up pharmacists time allowing them to focus on developing and implementing the enhanced services required by the new contract.”

Additional training and continuing development will be essential for pharmacists if they are to deliver on the new contract.  From September we are sponsoring the NPA’s Business Management course designed to help pharmacists embrace the new opportunities available.
