Health & Safety

Our hands-on, fixed fee Health & Safety service protects the wellbeing of your employees and customers. The service will help you achieve compliance with prevailing health and safety regulations and the GPhC standards.

The service includes:

  • A qualified EW Health & Safety Consultant will act as your Competent Person as required by the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
  • The Consultant will initially visit the pharmacy to carry out a General Risk Assessment and a Fire Risk Assessment as required by law.
  • Your Consultant will continue to visit the site once per year to perform a review and update your Health & Safety Management System.
  • A bespoke plan of action to align your pharmacy to the GPhC inspection standards will be developed.
  • Your EW consultant will be familiar with working with other pharmacies and you will benefit from their experience and expertise of helping to ensure compliance and implement best practice within their pharmacies too.
  • An electronic Health & Safety file including a bespoke Health & Safety Policy and Handbook will be provided. This acts as a complete Health & Safety Management System for your pharmacy covering all the key areas of risk such as Accidents and Incidents, COSHH, DSE, Electricity, Fire, First Aid, Manual Handling, Equipment, Risk Assessment and Waste.
  • Unlimited support via telephone and email from your dedicated Health & Safety Consultant and via EW’s desk based consultant team.
  • 24/7 access to the My NPA EW one2one area of the EW website which contains all your files and a library of practical guidance and template documents.
  • Access to online e-learning for all your staff on topics including Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Display Screen Equipment, Slips, Trips and Falls, Health & Safety for Managers, Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults. An online demonstration can be found here.
  • Emergency assistance in the case of enforcement visits and accident investigations.
  • Frequent plain English webcasts and email updates on legislation and best practice.
  • You will receive regular courtesy calls to ensure you are happy and securing maximum value.
  • Optional legal expenses insurance (FCA regulated) covers your legal costs in case of prosecution and fees imposed by the enforcing authority.

Employment Law & HR

Unlimited, comprehensive support for a fixed fee, delivered by a highly qualified legal adviser with significant experience of supporting employers in the pharmacy sector.

This service will help you to manage employees in accordance with prevailing employment law and the standards expected by the GPhC inspection regime.

The service includes:

  • A named, dedicated, legally qualified Employment Law Adviser with extensive experience of working with employers in the pharmacy sector will be your personal contact.
  • Your Adviser will help you with all your employment law and HR issues including absenteeism, performance, disciplinary issues and every other challenge no matter how large or small.
  • Your Adviser will actually help draft your bespoke documents and letters. You will not simply be provided with templates and expected to do the work yourself.
  • Your EW adviser will be familiar with working with other pharmacies and you will benefit from their experience and expertise of helping to ensure compliance and implement best practice within their pharmacies too.
  • We are available 24/7 and you can call or email whenever you need support. There is no limit to the number or length of calls you can make.
  • We will review your Contracts of Employment and your Employee Handbook to ensure that you have up to date, robust, legally compliant agreements in place which are tailored to your specific needs and appropriate to the pharmacy sector. If you have nothing in place we will create them for you.
  • 24/7 access to the My NPA EW one2one area of the EW website which contains all your documents and notes of telephone conversations and emails with your Adviser. You will also have access to a library of practical guidance and template documents.
  • Regular email briefings and webcasts that impact on the pharmacy sector to keep you informed.
  • In conjunction with the NPA and as part of your membership, we defend you in the event of an Employment Tribunal, handling negotiations with Acas, the tribunal, the claimants and their advisers. If a case proceeds to an Employment Tribunal hearing we will represent you.
  • You may already have legal expenses insurance cover in place through NPA Insurance which covers you for the cost of representation at Employment Tribunals. With the one2one service, you have the option of purchasing additional cover (FCA regulated) to cover the cost of awards and settlements.

Health & Safety Pharmacy One2One Service

Typical fees for up to 10 pharmacies are £700 + VAT per pharmacy per year which includes the Compliance Centre software. Bespoke pricing applies to pharmacies with 10 sites or more.

NPA Employment Law & HR Advisory Service

Typical fees for up to 10 pharmacies are £440 + VAT per pharmacy per year.  Bespoke pricing applies to pharmacies with 10 sites or more.
