Ask Your Pharmacist Week 2019

The next Ask Your Pharmacist Week will be Monday 11 - Monday 18 November 2019.

AYP Week provides a platform for pharmacy public awareness activities across the UK.  It also serves as a prompt for conversations with key stakeholders at a local level about community pharmacy services. During previous AYP Weeks: NHS bodies have used social media and local newspapers to signpost people to community pharmacy as the first port of call for common ailments Pharmacies have invited local dignitaries and politicians to visit for a health check and to learn more about the valuable services on offer NPA members have displayed window posters and other campaign materials, available free of charge from the NPA Pharmacies and local pharmacy representatives have organised exhibitions in town halls, shopping centres and sports venues More details will be published soon. Ask Your Pharmacist Week (AYP) 2018

This year's theme is Let's Talk Medicines Safety.

It is about explaining to patients the risks associated with using medicines inappropriately; and encouraging them to talk with the pharmacy team about safe use. Free of charge campaign materials are available to NPA members through the AYP Campaign Hub. As well as providing a platform for pharmacy public awareness for patients and their safety, this year’s theme also allows pharmacies to showcase the full range of pharmacy services.  A core element of the campaign is to help NPA members to hold ‘open days’ in the pharmacy. Decembeard – Grow a beard to help beat bowel cancer

Decembeard is an annual sponsored beard grow, where men bravely ditch their shaving routines and grow a beard to raise awareness of bowel cancer and fund vital research to stop bowelcancer.org.uk.

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK. Every 15 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer. That’s nearly 42,000 people every year. Around 290,000 people living in the UK today have been diagnosed with bowel cancer. Already bearded? Dye, ditch or decorate your beard and join in the fun. Scottish Member Forum

Register now for the Summer NPA Scottish member forum. This event is limited to 10 members only and places are filling fast.

The forum intended for NPA member pharmacy owners, superintendents and managers is in small informal Boardroom format with strictly limited numbers of 10 delegates.  Ian Strachan, Chairman of the Board of the NPA will be joining Scottish members at this event. We have the two most influential pharmacists in Scotland as speakers of the forum to provide insight to the future development of independent community pharmacy in Scotland.  Chief Pharmaceutical Officer Professor RoseMarie Parr and Community Pharmacy Scotland Chief Executive Prof Harry McQuillan for an in depth discussion looking at the enablers to practice development in Scotland. There will also be time for member networking and a session on identifying independent community pharmacy business support. In response to member feedback we have altered the format of the regular three monthly event to start and finish slightly later with more time for discussion of current business solutions and to include a networking lunch. Coffee will be available from 10am for a 10.30am start and we expect to finish around 2.30pm.
