Face Covering Exemption Card Scheme launched by Scottish Government

4th November 2020

Some people are exempt from wearing face coverings in public places as defined in Scottish Government guidance. Some of these individuals are concerned that they may provoke negative reaction from other members of the public by not wearing face coverings in areas where it is now required.  Carrying an exemption card is not mandatory however it may make the individual be more confident when in areas where face coverings are required. The Scottish Government scheme administered by Disability Equality Scotland can supply a free Face Covering Exemption Card on request to people who are in the current exemption categories from exempt.scot/. Detail of the exemptions included and information on the areas that face coverings are now mandatory can be found here. Further information on the exemption cards and how to request can be found here.
