The Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group priorities for 2020 has now been published
The Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group (CPPSG) is now entering the fifth year of its collaborative approach to sharing and learning patient safety culture and practice and has set out core priority areas to work on in 2020.
The CPPSG is made up of 19 like-minded people Medication Safety officers (MSOs) with a passion for patient safety. We seek to collaborate and find practical solutions to safety challenges, raise awareness of the importance of reporting, learning and sharing, champion the development of a safety culture and create consistency across community pharmacy.
The NPA holds the role of MSO for all independent community pharmacies in England with fewer than 50 branches.
The priorities for 2020 include:
- Supporting the profession to embed patient safety principles at every level
- Proactively monitor and investigate the safety implications of professional practice
- Influence national level mechanisms to improve patient safety
- Share patient safety messages widely
