The Pharmacy Imposition and Quality Payment Scheme
Everything you need to know about the funding package imposed on community pharmacy in England.
On 20 October 2016, the Department of Health (DH) imposed its “Community pharmacy in 2016/17 and beyond: final package” on community pharmacies in England.
This is a two-year funding package, covering 2016/17 and 2017/18.
- The total sum for 2016/17 is £2.687 billion – a reduction of 4 per cent on 2015/16; however, because this is being applied only to the last four months of the financial year, this will amount to an average reduction of 12 per cent for December 2016 to March 2017
- For 2017/18, the total sum will fall by a further 3.4 per cent to £2.592 billion – around 7.4 per cent less than current levels
