Blended learning

Includes face-to-face support, webinars, OSCEs, case studies, GPhC exam style questions and more.

The trainee pharmacists enrolled on the NPA’s Foundation training programme benefit from a range of training resources to accommodate different learning styles.

Study Days

Trainee pharmacists join us for four face-to-face study days at their nearest venue from a choice of three locations across England. We book accessible high-quality hotel/conference venues, close to rail links and with parking. They will also attend three virtual study days.

By attending these study days, students will:

  • Receive guidance and feedback
  • Engage in workplace scenarios and discussions
  • Participate in Q&A sessions
  • Share experiences
  • Broaden their network

OSCEs

Trainee pharmacists can gain confidence in the practical elements of the pharmacist’s job role so that they feel prepared once qualified.

Practical stations will test a range of skills, including clinical, consultation, problem solving, and dealing with difficult situations.

Case Studies

These enable trainee pharmacists to apply learning to real-life situations, and to gain a greater depth of understanding of topics.

GPhC exam style questions

We provide exam style questions to trainees during each study day. These include single best answer questions, extended matching questions and calculations. Same day feedback is given, with clear explanations as to how to reach the correct answer.

In addition, we host a full-day mock exam mapped to the GPhC assessment framework which is included within the course fee.

Webinars

Five interactive webinars where trainees have the flexibility to log in from their computer or smartphone and attend from anywhere 24/7 accessible throughout the year.

eLearning

The NPA Learning Academy is an engaging and intuitive platform that’s available to trainees and their Designated supervisors 24/7.

NPA Learning and Development pharmacists can communicate directly with trainees via the platform.

Designated supervisors can review their student’s progress and access the Designated supervisor training programme, coaching tips and other online resources – free to members who enrol a student on the programme.
