Russell White
Chief Executive Officer NPA Insurance
With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, I’m proud to lead NPA Insurance Ltd (NPAI), working in close partnership with Henry Gregg at the National Pharmacy Association (NPA). NPAI exists solely to protect community pharmacy owners—our only shareholder is the NPA, and all profits are reinvested to support its vital work supporting independent community pharmacies across the UK.
We offer tailored, gold-standard cover for pharmacists, uniquely delivered by our expert in-house team of underwriters, legal advisors, and claims managers. Our focus is on supporting members with clarity, care, and deep sector expertise.
I’m passionate about developing a team with genuine experience in both pharmacy and insurance. I’m committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and governance. Having recently completed the IoD Diploma in Company Direction, I continue to pursue strong, ethical leadership as I work toward Chartered Director status.
At NPAI, we’re more than an insurer, we’re a purpose-driven partner to pharmacy.

Paul Sayles
Chief Financial Officer NPAI
With over 20 years of experience in the formation and operation of successful insurance partnerships, I have consistently seen the incredible value that emerges when collaboration meets customer focus. At NPA Insurance (NPAI), this philosophy is at the core of everything we do, working together to protect and support community pharmacy businesses across the UK.
I am a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), having held the designation for over two decades. My professional journey began with Big Four training as an external auditor at both KPMG and Grant Thornton, giving me a strong grounding in financial governance, risk management, and strategic planning.
In my role as CFO, I bring these insights to support the long-term financial strength of NPAI and contribute to the broader mission of the National Pharmacy Association, championing independent community pharmacy and the vital role it plays in delivering healthcare.
Gareth Richards

Since joining NPA Insurance in 2007, I’ve been closely involved in guiding the organisation through regulatory change, operational restructuring, and strategic development, helping to bring administration and underwriting back in-house and supporting the creation of our Peach trading style to reach a wider intermediary market.
Throughout my time at NPAI, I’ve valued the opportunity to work across all areas of the business, solving new challenges and helping to shape the way we support our members. I’ve always been driven by a strong belief in the mutual ethos at the heart of what we do—providing fair, reliable protection that puts community pharmacy first. It’s a privilege to be part of a team that contributes to the health and resilience of a vital sector, and I’m proud to play my part in ensuring we remain agile, compliant, and focused on doing the right thing.
