What is Criminal Exploitation?

This happens when criminal gangs manipulate, pressure, or force people into illegal activities, such as selling drugs (county lines), stealing, or committing violent acts.

How Might This Affect You as a Distance Learning Student?

  • You may know someone who is involved in gang activity or being pressured.

  • You might be targeted yourself – gangs often look for young people to exploit.

  • You could encounter patients or colleagues affected by gang violence.

What Can You Do?

Stay alert to warning signs – Missing work/study, unexplained injuries, carrying large amounts of cash.

Seek help if you're being pressured – You have the right to say no.

Report concerns anonymously – You don’t have to give your name to get help.
