Symptoms

Urinary tract infection (UTI’s) symptoms are frequently encountered in community pharmacies, with customers seeking over-the-counter treatment or prescription-only medicines to be dispensed. Out-of-hours and referrals are often requested by customers, whose symptoms escalate, putting pressure on NHS services.

Helpful Information

Some pharmacies may be able to offer antibiotics (subject to eligibility criteria) via the pharmacy first service in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland to improve access to patients suffering from symptoms from a UTI. To find out more go to NPA NHS services information page and navigate to the Pharmacy First section for your country.
