Save our pharmacies to fix our NHS

#SaveOurPharmacies to guarantee local, accessible healthcare to support the NHS and help end the 8am appointments scramble. In England more than 1,200 pharmacies have closed in the past decade, a legacy of many years of real terms cut. Despite additional funding this year, pharmacy funding still falls below independent estimates of costs. Yet there is huge potential for pharmacies to offer extended care in communities and take pressure from the wider NHS.

Unprecedented profile for a vital part of the health service

Pharmacies are a lifeline for millions . They dispense vital medication, they offer local healthcare advice – often saving lives when they spot serious health issues, they can identify and treat minor ailments and they know their local communities.

We cannot afford to lose them.

The good news is that investment in community pharmacies improves access to healthcare, improves care and eases the pressure on the NHS.
