Henry Gregg, Chief Executive of the National Pharmacy Association said:
"This is an important report and demonstrates that if the government invests in community pharmacy it delivers great outcomes for patients and takes pressure away from the wider health system.
"It is right to suggest that pharmacy has a huge amount of potential to deliver things like more NHS vaccination services as well as greater management of long term conditions, as mentioned in the government's 10 year plan and echoes the NPA's own vision.
"Providing more walk in services for Pharmacy First will drive uptake, make it more convenient for patients who will not have to see their GP first and better for pharmacies.
"With the right funding and fundamental reform to the pharmacy contract, it's clear the role of pharmacies could expand, providing great care for patients."
