In relation to our costs, we have a philosophy of ‘no surprises’, i.e. we will not give you a low figure to win your business then increase it. That puts the onus on us to be as transparent and clear as possible in all aspects. We also endeavour to provide clients with pricing and payment choices. Depending on the type of work we offer fixed price options as well as time-based fee estimates.

For transactions, the options are as follows:

• Estimate tied to our hourly rates – the traditional option with the time spent and thus fees reflecting how simple or complex the transaction turns out to be.
• Fixed fee approach with clearly defined parameters, which would increase if the scope of work/heads of terms change during the relevant matter.
• The third option is a variation on the above option – for complete cost certainty, this is a higher fixed fee, but which does not change even if unexpected (additional) work or complexities arise.
