This year the theme is ‘Professional and convenient healthcare, from your local pharmacy team’.

This year the theme is ‘Professional and convenient healthcare, from your local pharmacy team’.

As in last year’s campaign, we are highlighting the skills and knowledge of community pharmacists and the wider pharmacy team, and their track record of safely delivering clinical services, including treatment for common illnesses.

The campaign will also emphasise that community pharmacists work closely with GPs and the rest of the local healthcare team to make sure patients get the best possible care.

Pharmacies and pharmacy stakeholders can access a suite of free-of-charge campaign materials on this page.

The central message of this campaign is:

Your local pharmacy team is highly skilled and well equipped to provide convenient clinical care, including treatment for common illnesses, as part of the wider local NHS team.

Why take part?

  • Build public understanding of, and support for, the role of community pharmacy in the NHS
  • Increase appropriate uptake of the NHS support available in pharmacies, including advice and treatment for common illnesses
  • Achieve positive publicity for your pharmacy and build your local networks
  • Reduce inappropriate use of GP and hospital services
  • Free of charge campaign materials

Invite local politicians to visit your pharmacy

Many pharmacies take the opportunity to invite their local MP/MSP/MS/MLA or councillors to visit their pharmacy during Ask Your Pharmacist Week. This helps brings local politicians up to speed on latest developments and can also get you free, positive publicity for your pharmacy.

To make this easy for you, here’s a template letter/email for MPs and other elected representatives you can adapt and send.
