DAY OF ACTION

#SaveOurPharmacies - an unprecedented show of unity.
Thursday 20 June

NPA Campaign unites Pharmacies across Britain to #SaveOurPharmacies

Thousands of pharmacies across all parts of the UK united in a display of symbolic action today to highlight the crisis in pharmacy funding that has forced 1,400 to close in the past decade and left thousands struggling.

Huge numbers rallied patients as they dimmed the lights in an unprecedented gesture of protest to make the crisis in pharmacy funding a doorstep issue during the general election. Many spoke to parliamentary candidates, while the NPA briefed health advisors from all the major UK parties.

A membership army of local protests and conversations

Huge numbers of pharmacies – NPA members and beyond – joined the day of action – to turn off their lights between 9-11am and/or black out their windows, wear black or wear a black ribbon. We kept patients and staff safe, but made a powerful point about the crisis facing our network on social media and beyond
