Support from NHS England:

As well as providing general guidance for the public on mental health and wellbeing, GOV.UK has signposted NHS staff to the NHS employers’ site. Here, employers can find guidance on health and wellbeing measures to support staff during the pandemic, as well as supporting staff following the outbreak.

The resources also include advice around:

· Mental, physical and financial wellbeing
· Domestic violence
· Carers

There is also guidance on how staff can manage fatigue, as well as general guidance on how employers can support their staff’s mental wellbeing.

Scottish resources:

New National Wellbeing Hub launched-Employee and employer support:

A new platform for health and social care workers and carers to support their physical and mental health is now available in Scotland. Launched this week by Scottish Government, the new digital wellbeing hub enables staff, carers, volunteers and their families to access support designed to aid resilience with the impact of COVID-19. The National Wellbeing Hub has resources split to employee and employer roles with content including management and coaching, building teams, and practical and emotional support.

New National Education Scotland e module new e-module COVID-19 Psychological First Aid is available free without login through the TURAS platform. The training covers three main areas:

  • Looking after yourself: supporting resilience and wellbeing in health and social care workers
  •  Looking after people: providing psychosocial support to patients and the public using Psychological First Aid
  • Looking after your staff: Responding to distress in frontline health-workers, advice for managers and organisations supporting health and social care workers Clare Haughey, Scottish Government, Minister for Mental health, has recently made a statement to staff on key messages on Mental health and wellbeing.

Scottish Government have written to NHS employers, regarding their moral and statutory duty of care to protect employee’s health and safety. The letter details wellbeing practices. Additional support in Scotland is available at:
