Health Education England announces full funding for Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician placements in England
28th June 2022
Applications for full funding of pharmacy technicians now open. Up to 380 Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) placements are available across England for community pharmacy single-sector training and cross-sector training.
Health Education England’s (HEE) is taking expressions of interest for their Pharmacy Technician Workforce Expansion Project – £46,099 of funding will be available per PTPT over the 2-year training period. This funding will be paid out in a split amount:
- Year 1- £22,772 per PTPT
- Year 2- £23,327 per PTPT
This funding is intended to contribute to the cost of salary, educational supervision or establishing educational infrastructure. Funding will be available to support the training of PTPTs through various models, including cross sector bids and community pharmacy bids.
PTPT must commence the 24-month training programme by the end of February 2023.
Applications are now open and must be received by Sunday 17 July 2022, via an online expression of interest form. Ensure you read the guidance documentation prior to application. This includes entry requirements for education provision, which echo those of the NPA BTEC Level 3 course – if successful, you can purchase this course for your PTPT.
An application template has been provided in the guidance and it is advised this is completed and saved so information can be copied and pasted into the online form.
Successful applicants will be informed by 5th August 2022 and will attend a regional programme initiation webinar the week commencing 15th August 2022. If you have any questions or require further support, please visit HEE’s Pharmacy Technician Workforce Expansion Project webpage or e-mail cdt@npa.co.uk.
