NHS Boards will be including non-medical prescribers in the Out of Hours services systems to produce barcoded prescriptions from this month. A GP10(SS)(5) prescription paper and electronic form will be phased in, providing barcode, Unique Prescription Number (UPN), prescriber role and professional registration number. The seventh character of the UPN indicates W for nurse prescriber, X for pharmacist prescriber, and Y for all other Allied Health Prescribers.
