Centenary workshops on the future vision of Community Pharmacy

As genomic screening and the science of genomics, becomes a bigger part of the NHS, community pharmacists must start equipping themselves with the knowledge of how the process works.

Dr Hackett is the Head of Genomic and Precision Medicine at IQVIA and previously was the Chief Commercial Officer at Genomics England.

She has extensive global experience across academic, business and clinical institutions and is known for driving personalised medicine and leading through complex changing ecosystems.

A live webinar took place on Tuesday 13 July for NPA members to learn more about the future of community pharmacy and its place in genomics – a recording of the workshop is available on request.

2. Public health – Tuesday 3rd August

Community pharmacists and their teams are an integral part of the public health family, and as seen during the pandemic are key to the prevention, improvement and management of ill-health. Straddling health and social care, the community pharmacist connects the patient to place based solutions of support and treatment. Join us on the 3rd August to learn more about the future of community pharmacy and public health. Nick Kaye, Vice Chair of the NPA will be debating this topic with Professor Maggie Rae, President of the Faculty of Public Health, where we will learn more on the role of community pharmacy in the future of UK public health. 3. Workforce – Tuesday 12th August

Community pharmacists and their teams are an integral part of the primary care multi-disciplinary team. But what further training and development is required to meet the future needs of our patients? What does the future community pharmacy workforce look like? Join us on the 12th August where NPA vice chair Nick Kaye will be debating this topic with Professor Duncan Craig, Chair of the Pharmacy Schools Council. We will gain a fuller understanding on the skills required by our future and current workforce and see how we can continue to be the front door to the NHS.
