Red tape and time to care

The red tape and time to care toolkit is the third in a suite of NPA Member toolkits related to the Manifesto for Independent Community Pharmacy.

This toolkit is intended to complement the work that the NPA has undertaken nationally over recent years:

Through Pharmacy Voice we put a series of proposal to Government as part of the Government’s Red Tape Challenge
We successfully argued that the General Pharmaceutical Council should have a formal understanding with other agencies (such as the MHRA and NHS England) to reduce the incidence of duplication of inspection
We successfully persuaded the MHRA to make provisions for the continuation of small-scale trading between pharmacies (without a WDL) when the pharmacy wholesaling exemption was removed to comply with European Law
We have sought to reduce the burden associated with problems in the medicine supply chain
