Visit the NPA at the Pharmacy Show 03 Sep 2010 Staff from all departments of the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) will be at this year’s Pharmacy Show to answer members’ queries and to explain the range of services and resources from the NPA that can help their pharmacy business. The Pharmacy Show is from Sunday 10 October to Monday 11 October at NEC Birmingham. The NPA’s stand is B50 and is just inside the main show entrance.
NPA comments on Scottish Parliament’s Palliative Care Bill 03 Sep 2010 The NPA has responded to the Scottish Parliament’s Health and Sports Committee’s call for evidence into the Palliative Care (Scotland) Bill.
New guidance on care record violence markers issued 03 Sep 2010 New guidance has recently been issued by the NHS Security management Service (NHS SMS) regarding care record violence markers, which community pharmacies may need to be aware of. These markers are used on patient care records to notify NHS staff if a patient, or someone associated with them, has a risk of physical violence or aggression associated with them. Community pharmacies are included within the term “NHS staff”.
Malaria in Maharashtra, India 02 Sep 2010 The NPA information department has received a number of queries regarding the increased risk of malaria in the Indian state of Maharashtra, notably in the city of Mumbai. This is following an increase in the number of reported cases of malaria compared to the same period in 2009, with media reports indicating that the majority of these cases have occurred in Mumbai. This recent increase in cases has coincided with the monsoon period, which began in June.
