Travellers who intend taking their holidays abroad are reminded that sufficient supplies of their regular medication should be taken with them. This follows a warning from the National Travel Health Network and Centre that patients in Pakistan took tablets from a contaminated batch of Isotab 20mg tablets, a cardiac drug containing isosorbide mononitrate. Adverse effects and deaths have been reported from patients who took the contaminated drug, which was found to contain traces of an antimalarial medication, pyrimethamine.
