Pharmacy Voice responds to parliamentary inquiry on medicines shortages

Pharmacy Voice is calling for an end to blunt medicines quotas, which result in pharmacists having to seek emergency supplies and keep patients waiting for their medicines. In its response to the All-Party Parliamentary Pharmacy Group’s inquiry into branded medicines shortages in the UK, Pharmacy Voice also says there should be a more concrete obligation to get medicines to pharmacies within 24 hours of an order.

Pharmacies in Scotland are being approached by representatives from companies who sell blood glucose testing meters, advising that previous meters do not meet current standards, the Information Department has learned. They are also advising pharmacies that there is a new regulation in place concerning blood glucose monitoring when driving. The Information Department would like to clarify the situation for pharmacists and patients.
