National Pharmacy Association (NPA) Associate Subscription Terms and conditions

National Pharmacy Association Associate Subscription services, and the terms on which they are conferred, are set out below:

1. Professional Standards

As an Associate Pharmacist/Technician of the NPA we expect that you will continuously comply with the equivalent pharmaceutical regulatory body (GPHC/PSNI) standards for pharmacy professionals, which covers ethics, standards of conduct and performance etc. For ease of reference links to these standards can be found below:

The NPA may choose to withdraw your subscription if action is taken against you by a pharmaceutical regulatory body.

2. Engagement with our services, fair usage and transferability

Your subscription is attributable and personal to you as the Associate.  It is only to be used by you whilst you are engaged in professional pharmacist services, at a non-member pharmacy. If you are engaged at a NPA member pharmacy, please access NPA services and benefits using the NPA members’ access rights.

The information you deem whilst utilising our services as an Associate is to enable you, to effectively and reliably to fulfil your professional commitments as a locum.

This subscription cannot be reassigned nor transferred.

3. Website, resources and Publication Services

As an Associate Pharmacist/Technician you are permitted to download from our website, information leaflets, business briefs and a range of resource packs. All information is copyright protected, not for public use and cannot be used (other than by you) or reproduced without our express prior written permission. Any information on our website, including any publications and resources, may be discontinued, added to, or supplemented, from time to time as we think appropriate

Without prejudice to any other provision of these terms, all access to our website, which you make, whether as an associate of the NPA or otherwise, is strictly subject to acceptance of, and strict compliance with, our separate website terms of use and privacy practice, as both are amended from  time to time. Current versions of the same can be found at www.npa.co.uk.

  • News feeds and email alerts We will keep you up to date with the latest issues, government policies, development opportunities and events and promotions and benefits which we feel may be of interest to you. In addition we offer RSS feeds, a web content feed to keep you informed of changes to content on our
  • InPharmacy you will be eligible to gain full access to our digital magazine inPharmacy available at https://www.inpharmacy.co.uk/

4. Pharmacy Support and Advice Service

This Service gives you phone, email and online access to the NPA’s Pharmacy Services department and information database (IRIS). Information provided includes advice on the:

  • Drug Tariff, clinical queries involving drug interactions, safety of drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding, travel advice, veterinary queries, foreign drug equivalents, drug identification, how to set-up and manage new services, NHS contractual obligations, sources and suppliers of equipment, goods and

Phone access is provided from Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from 9am until 6pm and on Saturday from 9am until 1pm. Whilst we try to provide the information that our pharmacists are looking for we cannot guarantee that any particular information will be available or that we will be able to answer any particular enquiry. Whilst we try to ensure that information is correct and up to date, we cannot be held responsible for your reliance on it and/or for any loss or damage suffered by you as a result of your reliance on it, if it turns out to be incorrect or out of date, save where the same is the result of our gross negligence. Where you are likely to rely on information provided by us, and the consequences of such reliance are likely to be particularly important, we strongly advise you to verify such information with an appropriate third party. Whilst we try to answer phone calls and respond to email enquiries as quickly as possible, there may be times when we are unable to answer or respond promptly. Whilst we always try and provide continuous access to our website, there may be times, whether as a result of maintenance, disruption or otherwise, when access is interrupted and/or our website cannot be accessed. The use of the above Service is subject to the terms set out herewith.

We will regularly review your use of the Service and notify you if we deem your use to be excessive; or if we deem you to ask excessive numbers of queries per call (in both cases taking into consideration other similar users), or otherwise use the Service in a manner that we deem to be unreasonable or fraudulent. Abusive calls will not be tolerated and will be terminated forthwith.

Persistent offenders will be subject to the disciplinary processes referred to in our articles of association, which may lead to the ultimate termination of your subscription. If we are concerned about your use of the Service, we may require you to modify or limit your use and/or your use may affect your ability to renew your subscription. In the case of any dispute as to whether your usage is excessive or unreasonable in any particular situation, our decision will be final.

5. Professional Development Services

Vaccination Training

As an Associate Pharmacist/Technician of the NPA you are entitled to receive our either online flu refresher training for free or full face to face vaccination training at our discounted price.

These Services will be supplied on the following terms (which will be supplemented and/or superseded by such further terms as we shall from time to time require):

NPA Learn

As an Associate Pharmacist/Technician of the NPA you have access to the NPA Learn.

NPA Learn is provided by The Pharmacy Network, and is a learning system where you can read articles, take e-learning modules, keep an e-learning log, take part in community activities and more. The Pharmacy Network is operated and maintained by or on behalf of Communications International Group Limited.

6. General

These terms, together with the application form complete the NPA Associate Pharmacist agreement. This Agreement is governed by and shall be construed in accordance with English law.

An application and/or the payment of the relevant fee or the payment of any renewal fee (as the case may be) constitutes a request to be considered for an Associate Pharmacist subscription from the National Pharmacy Association, or a request for the then existing subscription to be renewed, as the case may be.

Neither subscription nor the renewal of subscription is automatic and is within the entire discretion of  the BoardofManagementoftheNationalPharmacyAssociation.

These terms and any application form or renewal will be the entire terms relating to your subscription provided by the National Pharmacy Association and no other terms will apply unless expressly agreed by the National Pharmacy Association in writing. Subscription is renewable annually on the then prevailing Pharmacist Associate subscription terms. The then prevailing terms may be reviewed from time to time and sent to you or published on www.npa.co.uk or are available on request. Before deciding whether to renew your subscription, the applicant is strongly advised to review the then prevailing terms to confirm the basis on which the subscription will be renewed.

7. Intellectual Property rights

The words National Pharmacy Association, NPA, NPA Insurance, InPharmacy, Consult and Treat, Insight and any logo associated there with, are protected by intellectual property law. You hereby undertake not to refer to, nor copy nor reproduce, any of the foregoing on your website or otherwise, nor to refer to or suggest a connection with the National Pharmacy Association and/or the NPA, whether as a result of your associate subscription of the same, or otherwise, without our prior written permission.

8. Force Majeure

We will not be liable for any delay in performing and/or failure to perform any service, as a result of any circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation, strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes (whether involving our workforce or that of any other party), failure of a utility service or transport network, act of God, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, accident, breakdown of plant or machinery, fire, flood, storm or default of suppliers or subcontractors.

9. Breach of these Terms

If you are in breach of any of the above terms in respect of any of the above Services, we may, entirely at our option, immediately suspend your access to the relevant Service and/or any other Services, for such duration as we shall from time to time think fit, or (where we feel that the same is justified) indefinitely.

10. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude our liability for:

  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • any matter that we are unable to limit or exclude our liability for by

Subject as above:

  • we shall not be liable to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, for any loss of profit, or for any indirect or consequential loss arising under or in connection with any service we offer to you; and
  • our total liability to you in respect of all other losses arising under or in connection with any services we offer to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, shall not exceed £10,000.

Except as set out in these terms, all warranties, conditions and other terms implied by statute or common law are, to the fullest extent permitted by law, excluded from these terms.

11. Termination

Associate Pharmacist/Technician subscription is paid annually and once processed cannot be refunded or transferred.
