Job Description

Collins Chemist – Counter Assistant

Duties – what you’ll be doing:

Serve & greeting customers
Taking in prescriptions
Checking exemption status of prescriptions or collecting payment
Passing prescriptions into the dispensary and alerting staff to waiting prescriptions
Handing out prescriptions – ensure names and addresses are checked before handing out and medicines
Ordering counter lines
Selling OTC medicines – asking WWHAM questions before selling any ‘P’ medicines
Sorting out prescriptions of shelf
Nomination of patients to the Electronic Prescription Service
Recruitment of patients to the repeat collection service
Dusting of shelves
Date checking of all counter stock to occur periodically
Stock rotation
Comply with the cleaning rota
Checking goods which have come in from various wholesalers – checking dates of these goods, anything with less than 1 years expiry needs to be confirmed with dispensary staff
Answering the pharmacy telephone
Link sales
Cashing up
Patient satisfaction surveys
Filling up stock e.g. paper bags, bottles and cartons
Walking deliveries
Maintain confidentiality and information governance at all times
Understanding and making sales of homebrew, GSL & P medicines
The front counter must not be left unattended at any time
Work as a team to ensure all outstanding work is completed
Provide services such as stop smoking and lipotrim

Skill & Competencies:

Have a friendly and engaging personality and is comfortable working with members of the public
Have the ability to be on their feet for most of the day, and able to lift large amounts of stock
Be on or have completed a Counter Assistants course
Have a good knowledge of OTC products
Stay up to date with relevant product knowledge

Other:

Must wear pharmacy overalls
No jeans or trainers
Must have a professional appearance

Working Days:
5 days per week (including Saturday)
