Job Description

London Medical is a private specialist health clinic providing premium care across a range of clinical services, but in particular Diabetes, Obesity, Ophthalmology, Cardiology and Endocrinology. It is one of the largest private clinics in the UK and has attracted many of the UK’s most renowned Consultants to run their private services from its location in the Harley Street Medical Area. It also operates The London Diabetes Centre which is the leading private Diabetes centre in the UK. It was founded by Dr. Ralph Abraham 25 years ago. Dr Abraham is widely regarded as one of the UKs leading practitioners in Diabetes and Endocrinology at the forefront of new medicines and technology. Currently there are 75 Consultants with 30 different specialties.

 

London Medical has experienced rapid growth over the last few years. Recently it appointed Tony Graff as CEO. Exciting Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly capable and motivated pharmacist with outstanding customer service skills who can support our Pharmacy Manager in delivering a world class pharmaceutical service to our patients. The business is looking to develop its staff rapidly so that they can assume greater responsibility and provide additional value to the business.

To be successful you will need to be happy working on your feet in a fast paced environment, working closely with your colleagues and our consultants and be comfortable going above and beyond for every customer and doctor to deliver outstanding patient care.

This role requires flexibility with respect to shift patterns to meet the clinic demands and occasional travel to our Birmingham pharmacy to support the pharmacy.

We are seeking a positive team player who is looking to develop themselves and grow new pharmacy income.

In addition, if the candidate demonstrates the required level of performance in year 1 then the clinic will facilitate the the provision of Independent Prescribing accreditation through one of our consultants.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

Purpose

  1. To provide full and effective pharmacy services to the consultants of London Medical across a range of medical care. Ensures legal compliance in the pharmacy, reviewing labels, doses, and procedures
  2. Manage and develop the London Medical wholesale pharmacy business
  3. To enhance the prestigious reputation of London Medical when promoting its services and facilities whilst ensuring compliance with our standards of conduct, ethics and performance

 

Business Responsibilities

  1. To remain familiar with, and adhere to Policies and Procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, ever mindful on the precautions for personal safety of self, colleagues and member of the public in the Clinic
  2. To be alert to the requirements of the users of London Medical and to communicate any opportunities to develop new or enhance existing services
  3. To be mindful of the objectives of the Company, as described by the Senior Management team
  4. To remain flexible and responsive to business demands, particularly in relation to working hours
  5. To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the General Manager

 

Specific Pharmacy Responsibilities

  1. Be aware of the regulations for the compliance and fulfilment of legislative obligations under the Medicines Act 1968 and the new Responsible Pharmacist Regulations under the supervision of the Responsible Person
  2. Checks patients’ prescriptions for accuracy and safety, ensuring no drugs are contraindicated with one another. Advises patients on the proper use of prescription medication and answers questions about the drugs. Discusses side effects and potential adverse interactions of drugs with patients
  3. Uses pharmacy computer system to maintain records and track inventory
  4. Ensure that the pharmaceutical standards are met as governed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as instructed by the Superintendent Pharmacist. At all times be prepared for inspections by Gen Pharm Council, MHRA and CQC and other regulatory bodies in that you have carried out the instructions laid down by the superintendent pharmacist and the governance lead
  5. Comply with and be fully versed with the pharmacy procedures (SOP’s) as may be amended by such regulation in future or as directed by the GPhC. Remains apprised of latest pharmaceutical products, developments, and laws
  6. Responsibility for providing pharmacy services within London Medical, ensuring that all the standards are met by the pharmacy team. Offers various wellness and health-screening services, such as blood-pressure monitoring, vaccine administration, PGD’s and diabetes screening
  7. Ensure retail pharmacy store is well presented at all times and use own initiative to drive sales and maximises profitability
  8. All SOPs for maintenance of a clean, tidy and organised workplace are adhered to at all times. Store is kept clear of old and redundant paperwork and general clutter
  9. Actively promote the pharmacy business to all London Medical Consultants and General Practitioners to grow the income level
  10. Manage the wholesale pharmacy activity, liaising closely with suppliers and business partners, so as to maximise margins and maintain trust and stability of the business as directed by the GM. At all times be prepared for announced or unannounced inspections or spot checks by MHRA in that you have carried out the instructions laid down by the responsible person
  11. Manage the departmental budget for Pharmacy by working with the General Manager on any agreed budget
  12. Undertake regular stock taking on a monthly basis as devised by the Head of Finance and report any discrepancies and issues to the GM immediately
  13. Work with the Financial Controller in setting prices and managing volume discounts
  14. Apply infection control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines
