Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy internet pharmacy.

Qualifications and Skills:
•Pharmacy related dispensing Qualifications (Not necessarily a GPhC recognised qualification)
•Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Masters in management) preferable
•Proven track record of business development skills
•Proficient and proven track record to lead a pharmacy team/dispensing unit
•Proven ability to manage a team and reach set targets/schedules
•Minimum 3 years Pharmacy/pharmaceutical related experience within the UK
•Must have customer services experience and dealing with service providers (including care homes and other care providers)
•Experience of health promotion and maintenance
•Must always take pride in their job and attention to detail

General Responsibilities:
You’ll be the pharmacy (dispensary) manager of dispensing hub and be responsible for the day to day running of the pharmacy in addition to providing pharmaceutical services to our care service providers within the region and local population.

To organise and manage all aspects of prescription management and preparation of prescribed medicaments in liquid, powder, tablet, ointment or other form following prescriptions issued by an appropriate health professional.

To develop pharmacy services organisational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organisational objectives.

Establishes pharmacy services operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining output, productivity, quality, and conduct customer surveys; analyse customer behaviour; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.

To proactively support the company’s objectives and ensure that they are recognised in your day to day work in line with strategic objectives and contributes to develop sales strategies and sales targets.

Proactively develops and conducts marketing campaigns and promotional (seasonal) activities.

To work with the superintendent in the maintenance of all pharmacy regulatory and other record keeping requirements pertaining to the pharmacy’s activities.

To assist the pharmacy team to provide appropriate advice and guidance to health professionals on the selection and recommended uses of medicines/appliances.

Provides pharmacy services by providing pharmaceutical information and therapies to patients and by keeping health professionals informed.

To provide the superintendent daily, weekly and monthly figures where appropriate.

To contribute to the group’s commitment to continuous improvement by offering suggestions to appropriate persons.

Support the pharmacy team in liaising with care service providers and prescribers in ensuring that repeat prescriptions are managed promptly and received by the hub in accordance with weekly schedules.

Ensure prescription queries are followed through, documented and actioned as needed (e.g. potential side effects, drug interactions, drug indications, maximum dose exceeded).

Ensure a robust system is in place for the production and preparation of repackaged medicines (e.g. blister packs, pre-packs) and that an auditable quality assurance system is maintained that protects the integrity and stability of the drug product.

Ensures that drugs and medicaments are in good supply and are stored appropriately.

Ensure GDP is followed and enforced in all activities.

Ensure sufficient staff levels with the appropriate skill mix are on duty and suitable staff rotas are set.

Ensure staff are inducted and trained to the required standard and as per the company’s SOPs.

Support the pharmacy team with their daily tasks where necessary including managing customers expectations.

Organising drivers daily manifests and scheduled collections and deliveries.

Identify training needs and support staff to achieve daily tasks.

Be able to deal with the re-submission of prescriptions and support the pharmacy group where required in a given timeframe.

Liaising with NHS CCGs in order to submit unlicensed medicines Paper work and maintain archive data.

Proactively analyse medication and appliance purchase prices from suppliers and report to the pharmacy buyer regularly.

Essential IT skills and understanding of pharmacy software and NHS EPS systems.

To identify and develop new opportunities for further development of pharmacy services.

Support the senior management team with the implementation of new robotic/automated dispensing systems.

Pharmacy dispensing experience and knowledge of dispensing systems for care homes is essential.
