A Class 2 medicines recall has been issued by the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for certain batches of Paracetamol tablets 500mg, packs of 1000 as stated below.
M & A Pharmachem Ltd is recalling the batches because a small number of pots contain tablets that have discoloured as a result of fungal contamination with Penicillium citrinium and Penicillium brevicompactum. It is not likely that patients will have received affected tablets because the discoloured tablets are evident when the pack is opened.
