Independent pharmacies can shine on Small Business Saturday

01 Dec 2019

Independent pharmacies have an opportunity to highlight their work during Small Business Saturday, which is on 7 December.

The annual event encourages the public to support small businesses and takes place on one of the busiest shopping days of the year – the first Saturday in December.

Stephen Fishwick, Head of Communications at the NPA, said: “Independent pharmacies are a local lifeline and vital to the health of patients and the community as a whole. Not all NPA members would describe themselves as small businesses, but Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for those who wish to emphasise this part of their identity.”

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots campaign which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to shop locally and support small firms. Last year £812m was spent nationally in small businesses on the day.

Michelle Ovens MBE, Director of Small Business Saturday, said: “This is an opportunity to highlight the importance of the independent pharmacy sector and the local heroes working on people’s doorstep. It’s your time to shine!”

NPA members who wish to mark the occasion can access ‘Support Your Local Pharmacy: Committed to this Community’ materials from the information and guidance area of the NPA website.

Pharmacies can tweet about their activities using the hashtags #SmallBizSatUK and #SmallBusinessSaturday
