Pharmacy bodies unite to promote community pharmacy in the 2019 General Election

18 Nov 2019

The National Pharmacy Association, the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society have today published a shared Manifesto for Community Pharmacy, ahead of the General Election.

The groups are working together, as they did in previous elections, to present a united message to the political parties and election candidates.

The Vote Pharmacy manifesto and other resources that promote pharmacy to parliamentary candidates can be accessed from an online general election hub, www.votepharmacy.uk. The hub includes practical advice to pharmacy teams about engaging with candidates.

The ‘Vote Pharmacy’ Manifesto calls on the next Government to:

  • Recognise that community pharmacy is a solution to many longstanding problems in the NHS
  • Act decisively to unlock the sector’s huge potential as neighbourhood health and wellbeing centres
  • Invest in community pharmacy in a way that is fair, sufficient, secure and sustainable
  • Ensure that patients and the public continue to have safe access to medicines alongside professional advice from their local pharmacies.

The hashtag #VotePharmacy will be used to share updates throughout the election campaign.
