The NPA is supporting #pharmacy24 and urges members to do the same

The event encourages the entire sector to take to Twitter for 24 hours and celebrate everything that makes pharmacy the great service it is.

#pharmacy24 takes place on Thursday, March 29, one of the sector’s busiest days, and while the organisers are UK-based the event itself is global. This year’s theme aims to celebrate the diversity of the workforce and the patients it serves, as well as the diverse range of roles and careers pharmacy offers.

Two days earlier there will be a ‘thunderclap’ on Twitter when everyone who is supporting #pharmacy24 can send a synchronised tweet to promote the main event.

Stephen Fishwick, NPA Head of Communications, said: “Events like this provide a great platform for pharmacists and their teams to promote the work they do.

“But it’s important to try and engage people from outside of the sector so why not tell your patients about it and tweet your local councillors, MPs and newspapers.

“Social media might sound scary to the uninitiated but content need not be complicated or flashy, it just needs to show the human side of pharmacy.

“So we want to see hundreds of photos of our incredible members and their teams in action and hopefully some of the patients they help too.”

#pharmacy24 is open to pharmacies, pharmacists, students, pharmacy teams, researchers and the public.
